John's birthday present

John is 30! When asked where he wanted to go for dinner for his birthday, he said "buffet." 30 is a little bit more of a birthday than others, so I took him to Braza grill... Brazilian barbecue where the cost is flat and the meat is ever coming. Here's my first attempt at a from-scratch German chocolate cake... aflame. The best part of his birthday present though is the picture below.

We're having a baby! On John's birthday, we went to the doctor to hear the heartbeat. The baby decided to play hide and seek, so we got to see the baby move instead of hear it. Here's John's birthday present... the first photo of our baby! It's a pretty early ultrasound so the image isn't too much more than what our doctor called "our baby blob." But the baby rolled over while we were watching to let us know it is okay. Thank goodness we've heard the baby's heartbeat now after our March visit. We'll find out what we are having on the 28th when we have the big ultrasound for measurement and such.

Here I am in my great expansion. Who knew I could have such curves? :) This is me at 4 months along. We're due August 20th!

Happiness... John & are so excited! We've already got names picked out for all the kids we hope to have so we'll see if it will be a boy or a girl for our first!

Our December

So I've been a little lame in getting our blog updated. {More on just why that is in the next post.} But here is really quick recap on our December. We had so much fun with John's family in November, we decided to do it again with my family. Yes, I do realize that this is March, but hey, we got snow again this week so it still felt like Christmas! Thank goodness the thermostat is on the upswing finally... we may see spring yet!

Jen graduated! So proud of that girl!

We thought we'd take advantage and have our second annual "Saturday before Christmas family ski day." Hardly anyone was there and the snow was the best I've ever skied on. All hail to Alta for their ski-free-after-three program! We had a blast.

John's first real tree fetching. :) He was so excited we found such a gorgeous one!

Our first Christmas.

Rachel, Emma & Seth using our "spare 'oom" as a dining room. The better to watch Parent Trap, right?

Jeff & Gavin {below}... thanks guys for helping us make dinner!

Grandma at our dinner party (yes, that is Jen & Chris passed out in the background... must have been the coconut curry) waiting for everyone to be ready to go home.

Janette & Mom waiting for us to finish cooking all the eggrolls.
