I felt like a little kid seeing the brilliant colors from the air on the way in. I don't generally take photos from the plane since it isn't exactly in line with their "forbidden list" on Delta, but I couldn't resist!

This was the most amazing thing... so many of the trees looked like this. No spray paint involved.

Three out of four of our cute nieces (mischievous Sara on the left, wet-willy Anne in the middle and cute Maggie on the right) showing off for us in the back of the car... our nephew, Ben, stayed home to protect his mom and sister. Keep scrolling... there are great photos of all of them.

Right from the first when we got to Mali and Brent's townhome, Sara found her way to sit by me or on me any chance she could. I love my new nieces and nephews!

At the back side of the White House, you can get much closer for photos. I highly recommend a D.C. trip but to do the historic and museum sites justice, I would need at least a week or two!

Nice angle of the Capitol building.

This was amazing too. I had no idea that this statue was so immense!

I just loved all the gorgeous architecture back there. This one is the Eisenhower Executive Offices Building.

Here I am freezing in front of one of my favorite museums, the Renwick. They had a gorgeous exhibit on quilts from around the world from the 1800s.

Unfortunately, I don't remember which statue this is... I'll have to edit this caption later.

The Lincoln Memorial. There are no words. You have to go yourself to really get a sense for the feeling of this building.

One portion of the Vietnam memorial. It wasn't necessarily designed for an aerial view or grand photographs. It is the experience of one name becoming thousands. Pretty profound.

Here's John in front of the statue of Lincoln. Yes it really is that big.

Us in front of the Smithsonian.

Benjamin. By the last morning we were there, he finally smiled at us. Isn't he the cutest?

My favorite tree in Virginia... maybe because it is red? :)

Here is Mali & Brent's family after the blessing of baby Jane. We love you guys! We so wish that we all lived closer.

John's best side.

Anne's signature pose. Oh, and Sara jumping in the photo. :) Love those girls.

Ready to walk the girls to school on our last morning. We can't wait to see you all again!
